The game was developed from start to finish in two days.
The hardest part of the entire process was incorporating an idea to make the game replayable as is while also leaving the ability to implement more features later on.
Because of the limited time, the scope of the game scope is pretty small, as you can see.
During development, the idea of pickup buffs, weapons, and other abilities was scoped out. These included:
- Healing pickup: Instantly heals the player.
- Speed booster: Increases the player's movement speed.
- Enemy trap: Slows down enemy movement for a set period.
- Dash ability: Allows the player to evade attacks (though echoes can also help with this).
- Player melee attack: A limited melee attack that deals a small amount of damage.
Some enemies were also ditched, such as:
- Immune pillar: A pillar that prevents nearby enemies from taking damage.
- Charge enemy: An enemy that can one-shot the player.
- Time eater: An enemy whose attacks decrease both the timer and a small amount of health.
Maybe at some point in the future, I'll implement all of these features and add a boss fight with environmental puzzles, which was also scoped out in favour of an endless mode.
